Photography: Broga Hill
By Nicky Ang. Categories: Photography. June 24, 2009I’ve been receiving a lot of comments about Broga Hill. So I’ve decided to write a blog post about it. Broga Hill (officially known as Bukit Lalang) is located between Kg. Sri Broga in Semenyih and University of Nottingham campus (Malaysia). The hill is about 300m+ in height and is 25% “bald”. This means the top 25% of the hill contains only green tall weeds known as “lalang” (Imperata cylindrica). On top of Broga hill, one can see beautiful grassland with backdrops of mountains ala The Sound of Music scenery.

The lalang grass we saw on Broga Hill also comes with flowers.

Hiking up Broga Hill is considered easy as there’s not much obstacle except a few landslides and crossing a small wooden bridge. Depending on your hiking speed, it can take 30 mins to 1.5 hours to climb up and 30 mins coming down.
See map below to go to Kampung Sri Broga and you’ll see Broga Hill nearby.

Passing University of Nottingham, you’ll see a rabbit farm and the “1km Broga marker” on the road side. Park your car opposite the rabbit farm. Hike from there as it’s very easy to see the trail leading up to Broga Hill. The trail starts from the oil palm estate.
